The SafeCare Group celebrated its 10th Anniversary in the midst of the Great Pandemic without any assistance from the paycheck protection program.
One of SafeCare magazine’s 2020 Person of the Year for 2020 was the founder, chairman, and CEO of The SafeCare Group, Yisrael M Safeek, MD, MBA.
We have grown into a healthcare analytics powerhouse with SafeCareSoft, SafeCare AI, 100 SafeCare Hospitals, and RateAHospital.
10-Point Surgical Checklist & CAUTI Bundle
The SafeCare Group’s 10-point surgical checklist is a CMS requirement for hospitals, and the CAUTI Bundle is being utilized by healthcare workers on every continent.
In 2010, Dr. Safeek published the 10-point I AM FOR SAFETY Surgical Checklist, and SafeCare CAUTI Bundle as the feature story in Healthcare Financial Management Journal (August 2010 issue). Today, the 10-point surgical checklist is a Centers of Medicare and Medicaid requirement for hospitals, and the CAUTI Bundle is being utilized on every continent.
7-Point Make American Healthcare Great Again
In 2016, one of the seven policy initiatives identified was Policy Initiative III - Invest in Pandemic Preparedness as Integral Part of National Security for pandemic preparedness.
Six years later in 2016, Dr. Safeek published A Seven-Point US Healthcare Strategy - Making American Healthcare Great Again (SafeCare 4th Quarter 2016).
Seven policy initiatives were identified and the plan offered solutions to some of the most pressing issues plaguing the US healthcare system. These included the failure to properly treat chronic diseases, disappointment to provide preventative coverage for low-income people, and the soaring cost of life-saving drugs and medical devices.
One of the seven policy initiatives identified was Policy Initiative III - Invest in Pandemic Preparedness as Integral Part of National Security.
For pandemic preparedness Dr. Safeek outlined the scope of the problem, policy priorities, deployment phases, special considerations, and accountability.
The seven-point Making American Healthcare Great Again plan to fixing a broken US healthcare system was submitted to the Trump White House. A year later, The SafeCare Group released its 2018 US Hospitals Performance Report, tracking hospital performance in quality, safety, and efficiency over the last five years.

The Great Recession of 2010
The SafeCare Group® was launched in 2010 at the height of the Great Recession when companies were firing employees and closing their doors.
The Great Recession was a period of marked general decline observed in national economies globally during the late 2000s and early 2010s. It had a significant impact on the US healthcare system including: decreasing incomes causing changing attitudes toward seeking healthcare; decreasing numbers of people covered by medical insurance; increasing impact on the job market of untreated illnesses; and changing national healthcare policies in response to economic pressures.
The SafeCare Group was launched in 2010 at the height of the Great Recession when companies were firing employees and closing their doors. The goal was to support alignment of hospital finance and hospital quality that can limit damage to hospitals and improve patient safety. Using health IT investment to help hospitals was an appealing concept, but IT investments carried large initial costs, at a time when bank loans were difficult to acquire and few organizations can make expensive capital improvements.
Dr. Yisrael Safeek hired a team of software developers and programmers to develop custom Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications. Last year, The SafeCare Group achieved another major milestone for a startup business by celebrating 10 years in successful business operation.

The Great Pandemic of 2020
Several of The SafeCare Group’s competitors like Haven Healthcare (launched by Amazon.com Inc, Berkshire Hathaway Inc, and JPMorgan Chase JPM) folded.
The SafeCare Group celebrated its tenth anniversary in the midst of the Great Pandemic. This global affliction has had a major impact on health workers’ activities, routines, livelihoods, mental health and well-being.
Several of The SafeCare Group’s competitors like Haven Healthcare (a healthcare venture launched with great fanfare by three of the world’s most prominent companies - Amazon.com Inc, Berkshire Hathaway Inc, and JPMorgan Chase JPM) folded.
Other competitors like Leapfrog Group received financial assistance under the federal Paycheck Protection Program.
While The SafeCare Group has also been impacted in ways never imagined, adversity has never defined The SafeCare Group. The company continued to provide services without any assistance from the paycheck protection program. Staying true to form, The SafeCare Group was never the recipient of governmental assistance or welfare during the Great Pandemic.
Just like in 2010, The SafeCare Group defied the odds of a startup succeeding during the Great Recession. The information technology firm has grown into a healthcare analytics powerhouse with SafeCareSoft and SafeCare AI.
Dr. Safeek stated at the time, “It’s been a long and challenging journey to make it to the 10-year mark after having started with nothing but a laptop and a vision. I take great pride in what we have accomplished over the last decade. For me, the significance of this milestone is more than just keeping the lights on – it’s about fixing a broken US health system that destroys human lives.”
Dr. Safeek continued, “To say that I am grateful and humbled would be an enormous understatement. I am so grateful to all of the people who supported us along the way.”
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Business Employment Dynamics, less than 30% (less than ⅓) of all startups ever reach the 10-year mark.
It is quite the accomplishment for the company to reach the 10-year milestone considering it has operated the way it started - debt free with no loans.
