There is no shortage of hospital awards and recognitions in the USA healthcare industrial complex as hospital executives are constantly on the lookout for any and every competitive edge in a dog-eat-dog market environment. Each year, hospitals shell out thousands of dollars (sometimes hundreds of thousands) for ratings that in some cases are inflated and in other instances, outright deceitful. Two personal cases come to mind in my previous roles as a hospital executive.

​GRIEVANCES REPORTING AND ACCOUNTABILITY

1. Had my brother in the ICU with all of his private parts showing for 5 or more hours

UNTIMELY CARE AND DELAYS OF TREATMENT

1. Appalling 7 hour wait with a chopped off finger!!!
2. 9 hours in the er and no result was sad
3. 6 hours wait with 6 broken ribs, bruised heart and hole in his lung
4. Appalling 6 hours ER wait for bleeding, 7 month pregnant woman
5. It will take them hours just to give you water In emergency room

7. I decided to just go home in pain and unseen after being there from 6pm -1am
8. Waited 6 hours not to be seen
9. Waited so long finally left without being seen by anyone
10. You’ll probably die in their ER waiting
11. 9 hours wait in the ER for rude and lazy staff
12. Spent over 8 hours waiting in the ER
13. Waited 5 1/2 hours with my 94 year old mom and left
14. The lack of urgency in the ER is appalling
15. Forced to wait in freezing weather outside for 6 hours to get a room
16. Ridiculous ER wait times
17. My wife took off work to drive me a total of 2 hours and they cancelled
18. 4+ hours just to get an update
19. Writing to you to express my concerns regarding the waiting time at your hospital
20. Administration: Try calling your own hospital
21. Long waits, inefficient check-in process
22. After six hours for my son in the er when I asked what’s going on
23. ER waits are long but I’ve never had to wait 5+ hours being brought via ambulance
24. We walked out after 3 hours of nobody even checking her vitals
25. 7 hours waiting It sucks that patients have to go through this

27. Would not recommend if you don't have at least 12 hours to waste 

LACK OF COMPASSION AND MISSING EMPATHY

1. I was left on a bed pan for 45 minutes and there's no excuse for that!!!!

3. You’re better off dying than trying to get any help from this terrible hospital
4. I would rather lay in the street and wait for help to take me to another hospital
5. Could not even offer a warm blanket
6. Nurses were laughing and making jokes while I was screaming and crying during labor
7. Nurse spilled the meds then lied that my daughter "refused" it
8. Staff dumped her down with a severe back injury in a wheelchair to wait for 4 hours
9. Don’t bother calling for a nurse to come because they won’t for at least an hour
10. We press the call button they’d come 30 minutes later
11. Nurses not answering call light
12. Chest pain is suppose to be priority but they literally don’t care
13. Lazy nurses wont give pain medication after c section
14. I was treated like my pain was nothing
15. Some of the nurses saying derogatory comments for me to hear it
16. This hospital is awful and treats it's seniors the worse
17. Night nurses talk about patients badly, they have no empathy at all
18. TRIED TO DEGRADE MY HUSBAND
19. So far he has been neglect and meals were skipped

BOTCHED CARE & POOR OUTCOMES

1. Two surgical wound infections led to relative's death
2. Discharged home with surgery drain not working that caused sepsis
3. I developed multiple bed sores after almost 3 weeks
4. How you send someone home with open wound to spine leaking?
5. Had to be rushed back for internal bleeding after surgery
6. Missed opportunity to treat stroke after stroke alert cancelled
7. OVERMEDICATED MY FAMILY MEMBER TO THE POINT OF DEATH
8. Developed Thrush during hospital stay
9. Hospital knew I was severely allergic to fentanyl. Gave it to me anyway
10. Two days admitted after complication from a simple surgery
11. Gave my wife the wrong antibiotics
12. TERRIBLE experience when I came back with complications from back surgery
13. My birthing experience at this Godforsaken place was horrible
14. Preventable and traumatic complications for both mother and baby
15. My gauze was removed after 72 hours of surgery, and I had bubbles of pus
16. My mom was misdiagnosed and sent home with the wrong type of medication
17. Disappointed in level of care my mother received
18. They HURT my 8 mo
19. They failed as a hospital in many ways of not providing any type of quality care
20. We had to wait like an hour with my boyfriend still bleeding from his cut
21. I am appalled at the reduced quality of care and lack of patient advocacy
22. Several surgeries the surgeon did not complete and ridiculous wait
23. I’ve been chronically bedridden for a year because they misdiagnosed me
24. Both birthing experiences were horrible

UNSCRUPULOUS BILLING & HIGH CHARGES

1. I got billed $900 even though I left
2. Have they no shame? 3 minutes of patient contact they billed the insurance for over $5000
3. Sent me a bill for $2100 after telling me my insurance would cover it
4. Take my monthly automatic payment and still turn me into collections
5. No price transparency yet tell me to find out the price in advance
6. They gave me a hacked phone number for billing?
7. With auto-pay set up still notified that I will be sent to collections
8. Go elsewhere to avoid dealing with billing and ruining your credit
9. Billing is beyond ridiculous
10. Hospital is a financial predator
11. I will be contesting this atrocity and tell everyone I can to stay away
12. AN EXPENSIVE HOSPITAL TO GIVE BIRTH AT
13. Over chargers
14. WHAT A SCAM!
15. THEY got the diagnosis wrong then sent me to debt collectors
